The Dominican Republic Experience

Inside a Dominican Republic Villa Stay

The Dominican Republic pairs Caribbean beaches with the infrastructure that makes a villa stay easy: direct flights, gated resort communities, championship golf, and experienced household staff.

For groups and families, a private staffed villa is the alternative to an all-inclusive resort — more space, more privacy, a private chef, and a home base of your own.

Our villas concentrate in three communities: Casa de Campo near La Romana, and Punta Cana and Cap Cana on the east coast. Use the community pages to choose the right base for your group, then compare staffed villas by bedrooms, beach or golf access, and setting.

Common Questions

Dominican Republic villa FAQs

Should we stay in Casa de Campo, Punta Cana or Cap Cana?

Casa de Campo suits golf, marina life and privacy, with Teeth of the Dog and Altos de Chávón on the doorstep and La Romana (LRM) twenty minutes away. Cap Cana is newer and more polished, built around Punta Espada, the marina and Juanillo beach. Punta Cana proper is the most convenient for flights and has the widest beaches. Tell us your group and priorities and we will point you at the right one rather than the one with the most listings.

What is actually included in a staffed villa?

It varies by home, which is why we confirm it in writing before you book. Staffing differs villa to villa — housekeeping, cook or chef service, butlers, laundry and golf carts are each confirmed per property. Groceries, premium chef menus, spa treatments, transfers and boat charters are usually billed separately.

How large do the villas go?

We currently list 152 villas in the Dominican Republic. 80 of them have six or more bedrooms, and the largest sleeps 34 guests. If you are planning for a big family group or a multi-family trip, tell us the headcount and we will send only the homes that genuinely fit.

Which airport should we fly into?

Punta Cana International (PUJ) serves Punta Cana and Cap Cana and has the most international routes. La Romana (LRM) is the closest airport to Casa de Campo, around twenty minutes by road. Santo Domingo (SDQ) is a longer transfer but sometimes cheaper. We arrange transfers either way.

Do we need a rental car?

Usually not. These are gated resort communities where golf carts are the everyday way to get around — whether one is included with your villa or rented through the resort is confirmed per property before you book. For airport runs and day trips, a private driver is generally easier than self-driving, and we can arrange one.

How far in advance should we book?

For Christmas, New Year, Easter and Presidents’ Week, the best villas are typically committed six to twelve months out. Outside those peaks, one to three months is usually comfortable. If your dates are close, ask anyway — we confirm current availability directly with each villa team and can tell you quickly what is genuinely open.

Is booking direct cheaper than a platform?

Yes. You are booking with the villa team rather than through a marketplace, so there is no platform service fee on top of the nightly rate. You also get a person who knows the individual homes, which matters more than the saving when you are choosing between properties that photograph the same.
