Getting to your villa in the Dominican Republic is straightforward once you know which of the three airports serves your community. Here is how to plan flights and transfers for Casa de Campo, Cap Cana, and Punta Cana.
The three airports
Punta Cana International (PUJ) is the main gateway, with the most international flights, and is closest to both Punta Cana and Cap Cana — usually a 10 to 25 minute drive. La Romana International (LRM) is a small airport just minutes from the gates of Casa de Campo, making it the easiest arrival if that is your base. Las Américas (SDQ) in Santo Domingo serves the capital and is roughly an hour from Casa de Campo and about two hours from Punta Cana — useful for certain routings but rarely the fastest option for the resort communities.
Which airport to book
- Casa de Campo: fly into La Romana (LRM) if flights suit; otherwise Punta Cana (PUJ), about an hour away.
- Cap Cana & Punta Cana: fly into Punta Cana (PUJ).
Compare more than the airport code — a connection through PUJ is often quicker and cheaper than a direct into LRM, and the extra drive to Casa de Campo is easy.
Transfers
A staffed villa can arrange private airport transfers, so a car is waiting when you land and you are taken straight to the gate. For larger groups, vans or multiple vehicles are simple to organise.
